BNR 90th anniversary to be celebrated in European Parliament

Belarusian week is a programme of celebration the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian National Republic in the frames of plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 10 -13 March.

Among the guests of the Belarusian Week are EP President Hans-Gert Pöttering; Joseph Daul, Chair of the European People's Party–European Democrats group; and Jacek Saryusz Wolski, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

As office of the project initiator, polish MP Jacek Protasiewicz, head of the delegation for relations with Belarus, has informed, the programme includes Yury Khashchavatski’s film The Square, exhibitions of works of artists Ales Marachkin, Ryhor Sinitsa, photographers Ihar Krasheuski and Adam Tukhlinski. It is also planned that Zmitser Vaitsyushkevich’s WZ Orchestra will play.

Discussions and meetings with representatives of Belarusian democratic society, press conferences, and exchange of opinions on the topic “Independent Belarus is integral part of Europe” are scheduled. The question on decrease of Schengen visa fees for Belarusians, also lobbied by the MEPs, will be raised.

Among 24 Belarusian guests are Ivonka Survilla, Alyaksandr Milinkevich, Lyavon Barshcheuski, Yaraslau Ramanchuk, Paval Sevyarynets, Henadz Buraukin, Valyantsin Stefanovich, and Andrei Vardamatski.

The Belarusian Week is organised and sponsored by the largest EP fraction - European People's Party-European Democrats.
