In two weeks Belarus is to celebrate the 90th anniversary of proclamation of the Belarusian People’s Republic. The leader of the Homel Young Front branch Andrus Tsyaniuta believes that on this day “after 90 years of trial the Belarusian nation has a chance to get rid of the last yoke of Russian imperialism”.
On the occasion of the 9- anniversary of declaration of the Belarusian People’s Republic a number of culture and public events is held in the country. On March 25 Belarusians will gather on Yakub Kolas Square to express their love to Moterland together. What does Freedom Day means for the Belarusians? One of the leaders of the Young Front Andrus Tsyaniuta says that it’s the main holiday of the country, as the future of the country in the contemporary history and its place on the world map was defined on this day”.
“It was the day when Russian chauvinists broke their teeth on Belarus, and all their attempts to conquer our nation swept away. But now, after 90 years of trial of the Belarusian nation, we have a chance to get rid of the last yoke of Russian imperialism. We can say: long live Belarus! And it will live for ever.
I feel extraordinary joy this day, and I am proud for my nation, for concerned young people, for our ancestors who have saved our legacy, language and culture for us. Though the regime is persecuting us, we shall come together and celebrate the national holiday, Freedom Day. We shall gather on March 25 on Yakub Kolas Square and express our love for our land!
