Zmitser Dashkevich on hunger strike for third day

On September 15, Young Front activists handed round some hundreds of leaflets in Minsk reminding about the organization leader Zmitser Dashkevich.

The politician has been on hunger strike for the third day in the penal colony in Horki, where he serves his two-year sentence.

Minsk activists of Young Front called on Minsk residents to write letters to support Zmitser Dashkevich to the chief of penal colony Nr 9 in Horki, Kavalyou.

The released “Decembrist”, political prisoner Uladzimir Yaromenak, comments on the action:

“I know what prison means. I admire Zmitser for his brave and principled position. Zmitser should know that he is not alone. As a released prisoner, I will do my best to see Dashkevich here, with us, especially after the release of 11 political prisoners. We are waiting for Zmitser at home.”

Zmitser Dashkevich said his lawyer he went on hungry strike on September 12 until the prison authorities provided normal confinement conditions and returned the Bible to him.
