Shower In Baranavichy Hostel Compared With “NKVD Torture Chamber”

Users of social networks compared the video of a shower room in Baranavichy hostel, situated in 50 Years Of VLKSM street, to Silent Hill and other horror movies.

Concerned residents are beating the alarm: “There's no place to hang a towel or put clothes.” Administration calms them down: this year a major overhaul is to be made, tut.by reports.

Aliaksandr lives with his wife and two-year old child in the hostel of Baranavichy Operating Agency of the Armed Forces. They settled in last year. According to the tenant, there used to be separate shower rooms on the floors.

“After we moved in, there was a revision on the floors. Showers were taken away from the floors. They said there were showers downstairs. They meant the basement. To get there one has to go 15-20 meters across the street. It’s quite fine with me, but what about my wife and the baby?“ – the man says.

As recognized by Aliaksandr, the issue of the shower rooms has been raised in talks with the administration more than once, but it hasn’t produced any significant results:

“I do not need western-style renovation. At least the minimum conditions. There's no place to hang a towel or put clothes. One has to wear tarpaulin boots there. When you are going down the steps there, it feels like you are entering NKVD torture chamber.”

Baranavichy Operating Agency of the Armed Forces, to which the hostel belongs, is aware of the situation. According to its head Valery Salabuda an overhaul is planned this year.

“The funds have been budgeted. Now the contractor is being selected, and showers are to be made this year,“ – Valery promises.

According to the Head of the Agency, the shower room in the basement is to be closed and new cabins are to be made on each floor.
