Elzbieta Witek: Poles And Lithuanians Play Special Role In Protecting Right Of Belarusians To Live In Free Country

The Speaker of the Polish Sejm addressed the Lithuanian Parliament.
During her speech in the Lithuanian Parliament, Polish Sejm Speaker Elzbieta Witek reminded that the two countries have been closely cooperating on the issue of Belarus recently, reports Polskie Radio.
"Poles and Lithuanians are representatives of the people, who are well aware of the struggle for sovereignty and democracy," she said. "[They] play a special role in protecting the Belarusian society and their right to live in a free and democratic country".
Elzbieta Witek stressed that the common position of Poland and Lithuania on this issue is "fundamental in terms of the values that we stand for together".
On June 21, the EU Council approved a fourth package of sanctions against the regime in Belarus. The EU approved the introduction of sanctions against 78 individuals and eight entities. Then sectoral sanctions were imposed against the Lukashenka regime.
