The Russian head of state is cornered but still dangerous.

Putin now crucially needs a truce in the war with Ukraine in order not to lose captured territories, regroup forces and prepare reserves.

The Russian leader is cornered, former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, General Mykola Malomuzh, told during TV marathon. His words are quoted by unian.net.

"Putin needs the truce as he clearly loses on all fronts. He tried, of course, to make up for his losses by new attacks in the Donetsk direction. It does not work there. It is very difficult to retain the Kherson direction...," the expert said.

The general adds that the Russian head is cornered but still dangerous.

"...he still has potential, but now he desperately needs some kind of truce in order not to lose, first of all, the territories he conquered. This is the first component," Malomuzh said.

He says the Russian side also needs to regroup its forces and prepare reserves as those mobilized now being thrown to the front either surrender, run away or die.

"That is why 80 training centers have been created there. Shoigu (Russian Defense Minister - Ed.) says new reserves will effectively train there for two or three months. This new reserve, of course, can train there. It will be a problem for Ukraine...," the general said.
