A BILD correspondent interviewed 95-year-old Ezra Yahin, the oldest of some 360,000 reservists mobilised in the Israeli army in recent days. The pensioner fought in the Jewish Lehi organisation during the British Mandate in Palestine. He lost his right eye in the 1947-1949 Israeli War of Independence. Since then he has had one dream - to see a liberated Jerusalem. That happened in 1967. Yahin says he hasn't been afraid of anything since.

"Two days ago I received an order to be drafted from the reserves and immediately put on my uniform," the veteran said. - Only death can free me from this. ...> I want to be with the fighters and share the fighting spirit of the underground, to instil in them the Jewish spirit and prepare them for war. ...> I talk to the soldiers, inspire them, strengthen their fighting spirit. I tell them that we are not in Nazi Europe and we will not allow anyone to do to us what the Nazis did.
