The first combat duty will begin on Friday

For the first time in history, the Polish military deployed the WISŁA missile defense and air defense system over the country's capital, Warsaw. Its basis is the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.

This was reported by the Polish Ministry of Defense.

The country's defense department clarified that the first combat duty of the Patriot system will begin on Friday, October 6.

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak called it a “historic and innovative event.”

“Warsaw receives missile defense based on the Patriot system for the first time. Starting tomorrow, soldiers will begin duty with elements of this modern system,” the statement said.

The Polish Minister today visited the military personnel at Warsaw Bemowo Airport, who, as part of the fire group of the 37th Anti-Aircraft Missile Squadron, will operate the launchers purchased by the country from the United States of America.
