Putin's Daughter Gets New Position, Criticizes Laws Inked By Her Father

Maria Vorontsova joined the board of the Moscow Society of Genetics.

Maria Vorontsova, the eldest daughter of Vladimir Putin, turned out to be a member of the board of the Moscow Society of Medical Genetics. The We Can Explain Telegram channel found her name on the website of the public organization. The appointment took place just two years after the creation of the company. Its founders are hidden in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

The publication emphasizes that Vorontsova regularly receives new positions. In 2018, she became a leading researcher at the Endocrinology Research Center of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, in 2019, she joined the State Council for the Development of Genetics (the decree was signed by Putin), and during the war year she became deputy dean of Moscow State University.

At the same time, Putin’s daughter criticizes the laws adopted under him. At a conference of geneticists, she had an unflattering assessment of the norm regarding informed voluntary consent.

“It's a raw instrument. I understand this as a patient. After all, patients are given a pile of papers, which they sign without even delving into the details,” said Vorontsova (We Can Explain found a video of her speech on YouTube). The law, from her point of view, can remove liability from the doctor in case of a mistake. The term “informed voluntary consent” first appeared in the Russian Federation in 1993, but the procedure for obtaining it was established in 2012, when Putin was the President of the Russian Federation.
