The Russian telegram channel VChK-OGPU learned why the head of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Viktor Sokolov, was removed from his post. He made decisions regarding the Caesar Kunikov large landing ship, which led to the vessel being destroyed
As the channel’s interlocutor said, the ship left Novorossiysk on the night of February 12 on the orders of Commander Sokolov and was heading to Sevastopol for repairs. Due to a serious technical malfunction, the large landing ship could not provide independent propulsion, so it was accompanied by tugs.
“The command knew about the danger of unmanned boats at sea, especially near a ship with technical faults, but still Sokolov decided to pull the large landing ship. It ended with water drone strikes and the sinking of the ship,” the report says.
On February 14, Ukrainian intelligence officers, in cooperation with all components of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine, sank the large landing ship of the Russian Federation, Caesar Kunikov. It was attacked by Magura V5 maritime attack drones off the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea near the city of Alupka.
It subsequently became known that commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Viktor Sokolov was dismissed after the incident.
