The artist stated that he was ready.

Russian singer Alexander Malinin, who has the title of People's Artist of Ukraine, got into a loud scandal: he was accused of anti-patriotism, emigration and lack of a clear position on the war that Russia unleashed in Ukraine.

In January 2024, Saratov City Duma deputy Roman Gribov said that Malinin should be “cancelled” due to the fact that the artist lives in Germany, and continues to give concerts in the Russian Federation and is silent about the “special military operation”. Malinin was also reproached for singing the Ukrainian song “Chervona Kalyna”.

After this, the singer expressed his position and supported the Putin regime:

“Recently, a lot of false information that discredits me has appeared on the Internet. I am Russian. Citizen of the Russian Federation and People’s Artist of Russia,” Malinin wrote on his social media.

“I live permanently in Russia, in Moscow. I go on tour with concerts and often go abroad. The fact that I permanently live abroad is a lie! I never changed my homeland for a foreign country, so I couldn’t specifically return from somewhere for concerts in Russia. I already live here, work and pay taxes,” added the Putinist singer.

He also stated that since 2014 he has not performed the song “Chervona Kalyna” even once and that he is ready to go to fight on the side of the invaders:

“I served in the army, took the oath and am still faithful to it. If I need to go to defend my homeland, I’m ready,” Malinin concluded.
