Trump Open To Tariff Waivers For Most Countries

The US President pointed to “obvious reasons”.
US President Donald Trump has not ruled out eliminating current tariffs for a number of trading partners.
This is reported by Bloomberg.
“There may be a few exceptions for obvious reasons, but I would say 10% is the minimum,” the president told reporters on Friday evening aboard Air Force One.
He did not say what those “obvious reasons” were, or point to any new changes to his tariff policy.
Trump said he might offer some exceptions to his 10% tariff for most US trading partners, although he insisted he was “close enough” to the minimum for countries seeking to negotiate trade deals.
The president also downplayed the turmoil on the stock exchanges.
“I think the markets were stable today. “I think people see that we're in great shape,” Trump said, adding that the U.S. dollar would “always” be the “currency of choice.”
However, even with temporary relief for other trading partners, the high 125% tariff rate on China would push the average U.S. tariff rate to historic levels, according to calculations by Bloomberg Economics. The protracted trade conflict between the world's two largest economies threatens $690 billion in trade.
