The Republican has voiced a proposal that could help end the war in Ukraine.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has commented on the Kremlin's missile strikes in the centre of Sumy, calling the event a ‘barbaric attack on believers’.
Graham wrote on his social media page: ‘Putin and peace obviously don't fit in the same sentence’.
The strike against Sumy is a vivid example of how Putin is seeking to ‘end’ the war in Ukraine ‘by all means’, the senator said.
Unless a miracle happens soon, the only hope to end the war is to ‘deal a blow to the economy of the Russian Federation and countries supporting Putin’, he added.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb made an almost similar statement after yesterday's events in Sumy. According to him, the Kremlin's missile strike showed that Putin respects neither international law nor humanitarian norms.
The events in Sumy were also commented on by the US Secretary of State. Marco Rubio said that it is because of such strikes that Trump seeks to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible.
US special envoy Keith Kellogg emphasised that the attack in Sumy ‘crosses all boundaries of decency’.
