Admittedly, an inept provocation.
The Polish Foreign Ministry called the moving of the Russian Consulate General in Hrodna into the building of the liquidated ‘Polska Macierz Szkolna’ organisation an inept provocation.
‘This is an inept provocation. However, we are not planning an official protest about it,’ radio station RMF24 quoted a Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Consulate General in Hrodna opened at a new address - 40 Haradnichanskaya Street. Previously, the building housed a public organisation of the Polish minority ‘Polska Macierz Szkolna’ and a public lyceum named after Eliza Orzeszko, where the Polish language was studied. There was also a library, a third age university for the elderly, a women's club ‘Haradnianka’ and other initiatives. In 2022, the NGO was liquidated and the building was confiscated.
