The drones flew more than 700 km.
For the second day in a row, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have been attacking the permanent deployment point of the 112th Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces in the city of Shuya in the Ivanovo region. The strike was carried out using Lyuty drones, which successfully bypassed the Russian air defense system and covered more than 700 kilometers, Defense Express reported on Thursday, April 17.
Footage from Shuya published online shows the military unit being hit, after which a fire broke out there.
Defense Express analysts note that the Lyuty UAV guidance system allows it to hit targets quite accurately. Therefore, as a result of the attack on April 16, several hits were recorded on the premises of the military unit, including the headquarters of the 112th Brigade.
The city of Shuya is located 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. But the drones, according to analysts, flew a much longer route, bypassing the powerful air defense area of the Moscow region and hitting targets in the so-called central industrial region of the Russian Federation, which is best protected from air attacks.
Analysts called it indicative that Russia was unable to cover up its gaps in the air defense system after the first attack, so the Lyutye drones flew in the next day. Also, two days of attacks in a row indicate that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have the necessary number of long-range drones for methodical strikes on Russian territory.
The 112th Brigade, which is armed with Iskander-M ballistic missiles, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate, was involved in the strike on the city of Sumy on Palm Sunday, April 13, which killed 35 people and injured more than 120.
On the morning of April 16, it became known that drones attacked a military unit where the 112th Guards Missile Brigade of the Russian Army is based. The Telegram channel Astra wrote about explosions and landings in the city.
