Bloomberg: The US Planning Complete Ceasefire In Ukraine In Few Weeks

US representatives at a meeting in Paris said that they want to achieve a complete ceasefire in the war between Ukraine and Russia within the next few weeks. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing informed sources.

As noted, the talks in Paris, with the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron and US Special Representative Steve Witkoff, as well as Ukrainian officials, were focused mainly on how to quickly move towards a ceasefire and lasting peace in Ukraine.

“American officials indicated that they expect significant progress in the near future, and the participants in the meeting on Thursday agreed to work in this direction,” Bloomberg writes.

As the publication notes, the Paris meeting marked Europe's latest attempt to influence the outcome of the talks, demonstrating that together with Kyiv, they fully support US efforts to end the war and that Russia must prove the seriousness of its intentions in the ceasefire negotiations.

“European officials also wanted to know what the Trump administration was considering if it did not get progress from Putin, and they wanted to convince Washington of the need to toughen its stance on Moscow, including through the ‘massive’ sanctions package Trump had previously mentioned having considered,” one of the sources said.

Following that meeting, national security advisers and negotiators from Germany, France, the US and the UK will meet again in London next week to continue their discussions, the Elysee Palace said.
