  • 18.04.2025, 13:08

It has become known for how long.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed laws on the extension of martial law and mobilization. They will be in effect until at least August 6, 2025.

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to the maps of bills No. 13172 and No. 13173.

The head of state signed both documents on Friday, April 18.

According to the bills, martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine were extended from May 9, 2025 for 90 days, that is, until August 6.

This was already the 15th extension of martial law and mobilization since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Recall that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted bills to the Verkhovna Rada on the extension of martial law and mobilization on April 15. The next day, the parliament voted for the documents.

What changes during martial law

Martial law gives the authorities the right to introduce special restrictions. During its validity, they can prohibit free movement within the country, as well as restrict the movement of transport — for both Ukrainian citizens and foreigners.

In addition, the state can introduce labor service or mandatory community service for certain categories of the population. The forced alienation of property for the needs of the army is also permitted.

During martial law, the following is allowed:

a ban on the activities of political parties that threaten the sovereignty of Ukraine;

checking documents, searching cars, cargo and private property;

restrictions on holding rallies, demonstrations and mass events;

a ban on changes to the Constitution, dissolution of parliament and elections.
