To convince them to join the framework agreement to end the war in Ukraine.

The administration of US President Donald Trump is planning a new meeting between Special Envoy Steven Witkoff and Russian representatives to convince them to join the framework agreement to end the war in Ukraine. This was reported by CNN, citing sources.

The channel's interlocutors said that the framework agreement provides for a ceasefire along the front line, and the US is also ready to recognize Russia's control over the annexed Crimea. No other details were provided.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that, according to the proposal, the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russian troops will remain under Moscow's control. The agreement also provides for easing sanctions against Russia in the event of a long-term ceasefire.

The US proposals were presented to the Ukrainian and European sides at a meeting in Paris on April 17. They were also passed on to the Russian side – during a telephone conversation between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Some elements of the framework agreement are planned to be finalized at a meeting with representatives of Ukraine and European countries, which will take place in London next week.
