Hlybokaye District Agricultural Enterprise Director Conceals Death Of Almost 750 Cows

Dead animals were buried ‘behind the fence’.

Employees of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes have revealed a serious concealment of cattle deaths at one of the agricultural enterprises in Hlybokaye District of Vitsebsk Region, reports the press service of the Interior Ministry of Belarus.

During the inspection, law enforcers found out that the 65-year-old director of the organisation had given illegal orders to his subordinates to conceal the facts of cattle deaths in an attempt to avoid responsibility for the deaths. On his instructions, knowingly false information was included in official reports.

The inspection showed that the real shortage amounted to 746 cattle. Judging by the photos published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the dead animals were buried right on or near the farm.

The regional prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under the article on abuse of authority. The director faces up to 10 years in prison.
