Oslo has received 52 fighter jets.

Norway was the first to receive all 52 F-35 fighter jets ordered from the United States. This was stated by Norwegian Defence Minister Ture O. Sandvik, reports the Norwegian Ministry of Defence.

‘Norway is the first country to receive all planned F-35 aircraft. This procurement is a success story,’ Sandvik noted.

The aircraft were delivered on time and are better than expected, he said.

‘This is the result of a tremendous amount of work that has been going on over the years in most parts of the defence sector. The F-35 is a capability that improves the entire armed forces,’ said the head of the Norwegian Defence Ministry.

The Norwegian Armed Forces also received the first missile for the new fighters - Joint Strike Missile (JSM), developed by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

It is noted that the JSM is ‘the only missile system in its class that can be placed inside the F-35’s weapons bay, thus maintaining the aircraft's operational range and low visibility’.
