The documents have been sent to Congress for approval.

The US State Department has approved a possible sale of AIM-120D medium-range air-to-air missiles and related components to Poland for $1.33 billion.

This was reported by European Pravda, citing a statement from the Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency.

As indicated, the Agency sent the necessary documents to Congress announcing the possible sale.

The Polish government has requested the purchase of 400 AIM-120D3 (AMRAAM) missiles and various related equipment.

"The proposed sale will advance U.S. foreign policy and national security goals by enhancing the security of a NATO ally that is a force for political and economic stability in Europe," the statement said.

Poland already has AMRAAM missiles in its arsenal and will have no difficulty in adopting these weapons, the Agency added.

In late March, it became known that Poland and the United States would sign an agreement worth almost $2 billion to provide logistical support for the Patriot air defense system.
