The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry responded to footage of its captured soldiers in Ukraine. The diplomatic agency assured that China did not send its military personnel to participate in the war against Ukraine.

The Foreign Ministry also called on Chinese citizens to “avoid involvement in hostilities.” This was stated by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, during a briefing on April 9.

The Chinese diplomat stated that Beijing is checking the facts related to the allegations that Chinese citizens are participating in the war against Ukraine on the side of the Russian occupation army. At the same time, the Foreign Ministry emphasized that China did not send its people to the front.

“The Chinese government has always required its citizens to stay away from the armed conflict zone, to avoid involvement in any form, in particular, to refrain from participating in military operations of either side,” Lin Jian said.

On April 8 it became known that the Ukrainian Defense Forces captured two Chinese citizens who fought in the Russian army. This happened in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian side has the documents of these individuals, as well as their bank cards and personal data. Later, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to such prisoners of war and summoned the temporary chargé d'affaires of China for an explanation.
