Syrsky: Russians Launched Another Offensive On Sumy And Kharkiv Regions

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has revealed the details.

The Russian army has already launched offensive actions on the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently warned about.

This information was voiced by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky in an interview for lb.ua.

“I can say that the president is absolutely right and this offensive has actually already begun,” Syrsky said.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that over the past week, there has been a significant increase in the number of offensive operations by Russian troops in all key areas of the front — almost double. Every month, Russian forces are growing by 8-9 thousand people, which results in 120-130 thousand per year. According to data as of January 1, 2025, the number of Russian troops was 603 thousand, and at the beginning of April it had already reached 623 thousand.

Syrsky also commented on the joint exercises between Russia and Belarus planned for this autumn and the possibility of a new offensive from the north. According to him, these exercises could be used to covertly form a group of offensive troops. He recalled that in 2022, this is how a full-scale invasion began: first, a group of troops was created that conducted exercises, and everyone hoped that after that they would return to their territory.

“This must be taken into account, since the 2022 offensive could be repeated in autumn,” the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added.
