What's going on?
Russia is closing the airspace over the Kapustin Yar missile test site. The restrictions may indicate preparations for the launch of ballistic missiles.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the corresponding NOTAM received by the US Federal Aviation Administration.
The flight ban will be in effect on May 12 and 13 from 06:00 to 16:00 local time.
The report states that the closure covers from ground level to unrestricted altitude, which is a typical sign of missile tests or launches.
All aircraft were banned from staying in the area during this period.
This is not the first time when the closure of airspace over the range coincides with the activity of the Russian military.
Similar reports were also published in December: December 11-13 and 16-21.
On December 13, Russia carried out a massive missile strike on Ukraine using various types of missiles - ballistic, cruise and hypersonic.
