The leadership of Afghanistan has banned the game of chess. This is reported by Khaama press.

According to the source, the decision was made for religious reasons. The country's authorities considered that chess is a game of chance and contradicts religious norms.

The Afghan authorities earlier refused to recognize the female half of the national team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Atal Mashwani, a spokesman for the country's government's sports department, said only three men are official participants in the Games, as women's sports are currently banned in Afghanistan.
