Polish Presidential Candidate Came To The Debate Wearing A Sweatshirt With A Reference To A Fundraiser For A Child

Polish presidential candidate and journalist Krzysztof Stanowski came to the debate wearing a sweatshirt with a heart-shaped picture of four-year-old Ignasius Liss. The child from the village of Jacewo (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship) suffers from a severe genetic disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Stanowski's sweatshirt also had a link to a fundraiser to save the boy, writes The Warsaw website.

While speaking, Krzysztof Stanowski - the only person who appeared at the TVP studio debate not in a suit - repeated several times that politicians should make sure that parents do not have to organize fundraisers to save their children abroad.

Stanowski called for donations for Ignacy. The response of the audience was huge - at some point the site siepomaga.pl, where the collection was opened, could not withstand the load and temporarily stopped working. The boy's parents did not hide their emotions. "We are crying with happiness," admitted Bartolomei and Monika Liss.

Earlier, Ignacy's parents began to lose hope - in recent months the collection slowed down, the family began to fear the worst. Even before the debate aired, the account had 5.2 million zlotys. By midnight, the amount had risen to 7.8 million. This is less than half the amount needed, but the collection has received the publicity that many other fundraisers can only dream of.

The campaign to help Ignasiu started last July and will last until July 8, 2025. Polish politicians, regardless of party affiliation, are joining the campaign: it is supported both by members of the Civic Coalition and supporters of Law and Justice.

Krzysztof Stanowski wore a sweatshirt with Ignacy Lyssa's image to the debate, as the journalist was approached by his persistent parents, who promised to come up with something for them. During the debate, Stanowski emphasized that appeals to help sick children should not look like begging.
