Ukraine's military intelligence has shown for the first time a new generation of Magura V7 maritime drones. The same ones that recently shot down two Russian Su-30 fighter jets.

A correspondent of RBC-Ukraine reports about it.

It should be noted that Ukrainian Magura drones of previous generations successfully hit 16 Russian ships in the Black Sea, nine of which were destroyed. And on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2024, for the first time destroyed two Mi-8 helicopters and damaged the third.

With regard to Magura V7, the marine drones of the new family for the first time in history shot down two Russian Su-30 fighter jets. It happened on May 2, 2025.

Andrei Yusov, a spokesman for the GSD, said that in three years Magura drones have become a modern tool that is constantly being improved. But the key to success remains the professional work of the GUR fighters. As noted by the fighters of Group 13 ("Hunters of Russian ships"), the result was that the enemy fleet was forced out of the western part of the Black Sea and drove it to points of permanent deployment. Now the enemy ships are constrained in their actions and do not fulfill their tasks as intended.

It should be noted that Magura V7 can cover a distance of about 800 km, armed with turrets and missiles to work on air targets.

"You see air defense missiles and it speaks for itself. We are beginning to dislodge, let's say, the Russians from the air over the Black Sea," GUR chief Kirill Budanov told reporters.

When asked exactly how the Russian planes were shot down, he said it was thanks to "new Ukrainian technological solutions."

Magura destroyed Su-30

In early May, it became known that fighters of the GUR special unit Group 13 shot down an enemy warplane with a missile from an unmanned Magura maritime platform. The successful strike was carried out in the waters of the Black Sea, a little west of the port in the city of Novorossiysk, where the enemy hides the remnants of its Black Sea Fleet. Another Su-30 aircraft was shot down near occupied Crimea.
