Trump Claimed Putin Didn't Go To Turkey Because Of Him

The US president believes the war will end when he meets with the head of the Kremlin.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he knows nothing about the composition of the Russian delegation, and is not disappointed with it anyway because the U.S. has signed $4 trillion worth of contracts as a result of his visit to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

He also added that the war between Russia and Ukraine will only end when he himself meets with Putin. The meeting could take place in Istanbul - Trump had previously conceded that he might attend the talks - but the quote suggests he changed his mind.

"I'm not disappointed in anything. Why would I be disappointed? We just got $4 trillion dollars and you're talking about some delegation. I don't know anything about this delegation at all, I haven't even checked.

Listen, nothing is going to get off the ground until Putin and I meet. You understand? Obviously, he wasn't going to go. He was ready to go, but he thought I was going too. And he wasn't gonna go without me. And whether you like it or not, I don't believe anything will really happen until we meet in person. And we will have to meet - because too many people are dying," Trump said.

On the night of May 14, the Kremlin published the composition of the delegation for the meeting in Istanbul with the Ukrainian side. Instead of Vladimir Putin, it will be led by his aide, former Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky.
