Syrsky: 640,000 Russian Troops Are Fighting Against Ukraine

Moscow has turned aggression against Ukraine into a war of attrition.

The AFU Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky said that the fighting continues and the Russians, despite diplomatic appeals, do not give up their goals.

"We expect to achieve a just peace, but now active fighting continues on a section of the front about 1,100 kilometers long. Despite diplomatic appeals, Russia is not abandoning its previous goals on the battlefield. Moscow has turned aggression against Ukraine into a war of attrition," Syrskyy said during a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, which he attended via videoconference on Thursday, May 15.

The AFU commander-in-chief noted that the joint grouping of Russian troops now numbers up to 640,000 people. At the same time, the Ukrainian military is conducting an effective defensive operation and inflicting significant losses on the occupants.

The AFU General Staff reported earlier that as of 22:00 on May 14, the situation at the front remains tense. Over the day, the Ukrainian military recorded 128 military clashes along the entire line of contact. The Pokrovskyi direction remains the hottest.
