In Hong Kong and Singapore, the number of severe cases rose sharply over the month.
A coronavirus is spreading rapidly across Asia, with several countries recording a sharp rise in severe Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations. Unlike most respiratory viruses that become active during the cold season, Covid-19 is spreading rapidly even in summer, NDTV reported.
The number of positive tests for Covid-19 has reached its highest level in a year, according to the head of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Hong Kong Health Center.
Because of the disease, famous singer Ison Chan was forced to cancel concerts in Taiwan scheduled for later this week.
According to the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Covid-19 wave in China may reach last year's levels, as the rate of positive tests among patients who went to hospitals more than doubled.
The Thai Department of Disease Control and Prevention also reported two outbreaks after the annual Songkran festival in April.
Singapore recorded a 28% increase in severe cases to more than 14,000 in a week, and hospitalization rates rose 30%.
Although the strains of the disease are not yet as aggressive as they used to be, Covid-19 still poses a public health threat.
The fight against the virus is ongoing, so it is important to continue to follow safety precautions, update vaccinations and remain aware of potential risks.
