Airports were closed in several regions of Russia because of the explosions.

On the night of May 21, several regions of the Russian Federation restricted the operation of airports. In the regions, drones were recorded, air defense forces were working, and explosions were heard.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Russian publics.

How the airports were closed

Even the evening before, Russian media were spreading announcements by "Rosaviatsia" about the introduction of the "Cover" plan at Kaluga's Grabtsevo, Kubinka, Ermolino and several other airports.

In addition, the sky over Tula was "closed." These restrictions in the work of airports were explained by security measures, allegedly because of the threat from drones.

The above airports were prohibited to land and depart for flights. Pilots were advised to direct their planes "to alternate airports in St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl or Moscow - Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, Sheremetyevo or Vnukovo," Telegram channel Mash reports.

Already in the morning, Russia restricted the work of Yaroslavl's Tunoshna airport and Kostroma's Sokerkino airport. There, Rosaviatsia announced a "Cover" plan, allegedly amid the UAV threat, rosmedia said.

Explosions in the regions

A series of explosions were complained about online by residents of the Tula region around half past twelve in the morning.

The Mash Tg-channel said there were stories of "loud claps" in Aleksin in the Tula region. Rosmedia also wrote that after that there was a "massive failure of cellular communication and internet".

Already after midnight, Russian publicks told about several explosions in the Ryazan region, particularly over the city of Ryazan. As reported by the SHOT TG channel, local residents in general "counted about 5 loud claps that were heard in different parts of the city" of Ryazan.

Russian propaganda channels wrote about air defense work on drones allegedly launched by the Ukrainian side. At the same time, local authorities did not report any consequences "on the ground."
