It is dedicated to the abducted Ukrainian children.

A group of U.S. senators (representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties) submitted a resolution calling for Russia's mandatory return of all abducted Ukrainian children - before any agreement to end the war is reached.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a joint statement by U.S. senators and the Telegram channel of the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.

The initiative is a bipartisan group of U.S. senators, initiated by Republican Chuck Grassley and Democrat Amy Klobuchar.

The resolution was also co-sponsored by Senators Roger Wicker, Johnny Ernst, Rick Scott, Dick Durbin and John Fetterman - who are from both parties.

"Russia has abducted nearly 20,000 Ukrainian children to destroy their cultural identity and heritage," according to a joint statement released on Senator Grassley's website.

The resolution calls for "the return of abducted Ukrainian children before any peace agreement ending the war against Ukraine is finalized."

The document condemns Russia's abduction and forced removal of Ukrainian children and notes that the Russian invasion has increasingly exposed children to "child trafficking, exploitation, child labor, violence, starvation, injury, trauma and death."

"The inhumane and unprovoked attack on Ukraine by (Russian dictator Vladimir) Putin has started the biggest war in Europe since World War II. He has kidnapped thousands of children to brainwash and Russify them in an attempt to destroy their cultural identity and heritage. The United States must demand the return of these children before reaching an agreement to end the war in Ukraine," Grassley emphasized.

For her part, Senator Klobuchar noted that "Russia's mass abduction of Ukrainian children is an atrocity."

"We cannot accept a world where children are kidnapped during war and used as a form of hostage-taking for negotiations. These children must be returned unconditionally before any peace agreement is finalized," she emphasized.

Ukraine's response

Razom for Ukraine media advisor Ostap Yarysh notes on his Facebook that "this is the first resolution in the Senate since Donald Trump took office, supported by Republicans, that calls for action on the negotiation process with Russia."

According to Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the resolution is "an important signal from the United States."

"The abduction of children is not just a war crime. It is an attempt to erase our identity, to break the future of the nation. We will not allow it. I am grateful to the senators for their support." - noted the official.

Reminder that dictator Lukashenko is involved in the abduction of more than three thousand Ukrainian children. MEPs appealed to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for Alexander Lukashenko. They said that Minsk was responsible for the damage caused to Ukraine, including because of the Lukashenka regime's role in the deportation of Ukrainian children.
