It has become known what is included.
The US Department of State has approved the sale to Ukraine of training and technical support for F-16 fighter jets, as well as related equipment worth a total of 310.5 million dollars. This is reported on the site of the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
The package includes: modernization of F-16 aircraft; training of Ukrainian personnel; operational and technical support; supply of spare parts, consumables and repair kits; delivery and maintenance of ground equipment. Also included is assistance with classified and unclassified software; transfer of technical documentation, publications and reference materials; engineering studies, technical inspections and logistics services from both the U.S. government and private contractors.
The State Department emphasized that the initiative serves U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives. It is aimed at strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukraine, which the US views as an important partner and "a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe." The support will enhance Ukraine's ability to meet current and potential threats, provide quality training for Ukrainian pilots, and strengthen the Ukrainian Air Force's interoperability with the U.S. Air Force through integration into a common training and maintenance system, DSCA said.
"This decision is consistent with the international coalition's efforts to establish a Ukrainian F-16 program and overall modernization of the Ukrainian Air Force. Ukraine will be able to seamlessly integrate the equipment and services provided into its armed forces," the DSCA said in a statement.
The key contractors under the contract will be Valiant Integrated Services, Top Aces Corporation, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Pratt and Whitney, Snap-on Inc., BAE Systems Inc., AAR Corporation and Comsetra LLC.
