Zelensky: Ukraine Ready For Ceasefire From May 7, But For 30 Days

Putin's proposal is a theatrical production.

Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire with Russia, but insists on a 30-day truce according to the strategy proposed by the United States.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky while speaking to journalists.

"An unconditional ceasefire is the model the Americans have proposed. We are following it. From this date or another date - preferably earlier. Yes, let's try for 30 days. Why a 30-day ceasefire? Because it is impossible to agree on anything in three, five, seven days," the Ukrainian president said.

"The ceasefire" announced by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for three days from May 7 to May 10, Zelensky called a "theatrical production." The head of state emphasized that no plan for the next steps to end the war can be built in two or three days.

"Playing to give a soft atmosphere of coming out of isolation to Putin on May 9, and to make everyone comfortable, safe - those leaders, or friends, or partners of Putin, who will come, for one reason or another to the Kremlin square on May 9 - no one will help Putin. We are simply either at war, or Putin is showing that he is ready for a cease-fire, the first part of ending the war. We are ready to start on the 1st, on the 3rd, on the 5th. If he wants a date of the 7th, we don't care. From the 7th - 30 days," Zelensky emphasized.

He also added that complete silence without its qualitative monitoring is impossible to achieve.
