The Counterattacks By The Ukrainian Armed Forces Have Broken The Russians' Plans

Russian occupation troops have been preparing for street battles against the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the town of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Region since winter. Analysts predicted the start of fighting for the settlement as early as September 2024, but this did not happen. Counterattacks of the Ukrainian military eliminated the threat of capture and encirclement of Pokrovsk by the occupants. The speaker of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army Sergei Bratchuk said about it on air of the TV channel FREEDOM.

The situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains tense, as the enemy continues to continuously attack the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

"The strategic goal of the Russians remains the capture of the entire territory of Donetsk region. Pokrovsk is now an important stronghold for our Defense Forces. The enemy does not leave attempts to advance towards this settlement. Although even before the New Year the 15th separate rifle brigade of the Russian Armed Forces was already preparing for street battles in Pokrovsk. It ended with the fact that the military of this brigade ran through fields, plantations and were destroyed by our Defense Forces," Bratchuk noted.

According to him, against the background of failures, the Russians are changing the tactics of the offensive on Pokrovsk. Now the enemy is trying to bypass the city from three sides.

"The enemy is trying to disrupt our logistics and by all means to bring the occupation of the settlement closer. However, the Defense Forces of Ukraine, despite the intense and brutal fighting in the Pokrovsk direction, managed not only to stop the enemy, but also to stabilize the situation in some areas. The breakthrough of our defenses was not allowed, the positions where we are located were held. All this is due to counterattack actions," - emphasized the speaker.
