The Chancellor said that Kiev could count on the new government of the FRG.
Ukraine can count on the new German government, including on the issue of transferring Taurus cruise missiles.
The country's new chancellor Friedrich Merz said this on air on the ZDF channel.
"President Zielenski knows that he can rely on me and on the Federal Republic," Merz said when asked about the delivery of Taurus missiles.
He said Germany has been too passive on the international stage in the transitional post-election period, but he intends to step up foreign policy. His plans include a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as well as today's conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, with whom he wants to discuss support for Ukraine.
In addition, Merz believes that Poland should also be involved in a diplomatic format involving Germany, France and the UK.
We would like to recall that earlier Merz said he was ready to approve the transfer of long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
