CPD: Russia Wants To Steal The Feat Of Belarusians And Ukrainians

The Kremlin continues to use war as an ideological tool.

Russians invested significantly less in the victory in World War II than Ukrainians and Belarusians. However, the Russian Federation continues to actively use this as an ideological tool. This was stated by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kovalenko.

"The so-called "Great Patriotic War" used by Russia as an ideological tool is only a part of World War II, which was much bigger than that. The substitution of notions serves as an attempt by the Russian Federation to attribute to itself the role of the sole victor, while in fact the victory was the result of the united efforts of many countries, including Ukraine and other republics of the former USSR," Kovalenko wrote.

He also noted that Russians invested less than Ukrainians and Belarusians in the victory:

"And today, even though Russia calls Belarusians allies, it levels the feats of not only the Ukrainian people, but also the Belarusian people, without remembering at all the role of other peoples besides the Russian."

The victory over Nazism was made possible by the joint contributions of Ukrainians, Belarusians, the United States, Britain, the resistance forces in France, Poland, the Indian people who made significant contributions to the British forces, as well as Australians, the people of New Zealand and China.

"This is a joint contribution to the victory over Nazism. The Russians played their part, but a much smaller one than everyone else," concludes Andrei Kovalenko.
